Project Overview.

A wonderful father reached out to Murals.ng with a special request to surprise his two artsy, music-loving daughters with a unique painting. He visited our gallery for a physical consultation and later sent us several photos of the girls. We generated different digital versions of the girls’ images and incorporated the client’s feedback before creating the final hand-drawn version. The result, titled “Musical Girls,” is a captivating masterpiece that beautifully captures the sisters in their element, celebrating their shared passion for art and music.

Client Vision.

The client envisioned a special and memorable gift for his two artsy and music-loving daughters. He wanted a hand-painted artwork that would be both unique and personal.

The desired piece was a 75 x 75 cm framed painting, designed to capture the essence of the sisters’ artistic and musical passions. The artwork was intended to celebrate their creativity and love for music through a live portrait of the girls—one drumming and the other playing the guitar—showcasing their vibrant spirits in a tangible and lasting form.

Project Scope.

The hand-painted artwork was designed to reflect the sisters’ vibrant personalities and artistic talents. The painting vividly portrays the two sisters in their element: one drumming and the other playing the guitar. This dynamic composition showcases their creative spirits and love for music. To further emphasize their musical connection, musical notes flow across the background, integrating seamlessly with the scene.

The objective was to deliver a unique and personal gift that captured the artistic and musical passions of the client’s daughters.

Design and Planning Process.

Using the pictures of the girls provided by their father, we generated different digital images to find the most suitable ones. After selecting the best options, we initially contacted an artist for the hand-drawing process, but the results did not meet our standards.

We then enlisted Lukman Karunwi to create "Musical Girls." To ensure he could work with the desired art style, we used a standardized test. Lukman, who has worked with us on various projects like "Egungun 2" and the showroom artworks, was a perfect fit.

The painting was crafted on stretched canvas using acrylics, chosen for its vibrant colors and durability. The artistic approach blended contemporary Pan-African futurism with traditional African themes, giving the artwork a unique and dynamic flair.

Execution.

The execution of “Musical Girls” involved a collaborative effort from start to finish, ensuring that every aspect of the project was handled with care and expertise.

The process began with an in-depth consultation with the client, where we discussed his vision for the artwork. Following this, we crafted a detailed concept for the portrait, incorporating contemporary Pan-African futurism into the acrylic painting on stretched canvas. Once the design of the digital piece was approved, our skilled artist began the hand-painting process, meticulously capturing the sisters’ personalities and passions.

Results.

The completed artwork was presented to the family at Murals.ng’s gallery in Lekki in early May 2024. The family’s visit for the unveiling was a memorable event, with the girls’ reactions to the portrait being truly priceless. To further celebrate their artistic talents, we also surprised the girls with sketchbooks and colored pencils, encouraging them to continue their love for art.

The client also expressed interest in creating a special piece for his wife in the near future.
