    Egghead Ayẹyẹ

    A Celebration Mural for Egghead

    About the Project

Ayẹyẹ means celebration in Yoruba. For Egghead, that idea became the starting point for a mural designed to bring warmth, character, and cultural presence into a practical commercial environment.

The available surface rose through a stairwell: tall, narrow, and encountered in motion. Instead of treating that geometry as a constraint, the composition was developed vertically so the artwork could reveal itself as customers moved between levels.

A functional passage can become a memorable part of the brand when art is designed around how people move through it.

    The Brief

Give a pharmacy space a warmer cultural identity.

Commercial interiors often prioritise clarity and function, leaving transitional areas visually unresolved. Egghead's stairwell offered an opportunity to introduce personality without interrupting the operational needs of the business.

The work needed to feel optimistic and welcoming, connect naturally with the brand environment, and hold enough visual energy to transform a surface people would otherwise pass without noticing.

    The Design Response

A vertical collage built around movement and celebration.

Layered faces, pattern, graphic fragments, and energetic colour create a composition that feels collected rather than static. The mural's density shifts across the wall, giving the eye clear points of focus while preserving the sense of abundance suggested by its name.

Because the artwork is viewed from different heights and angles, individual elements were scaled to work in fragments as well as in the full composition. A guest can discover a face or detail on the landing, then understand its place in the larger work from below.

The composition remains active across the stairwell's changing sightlines.

    The Experience

The artwork unfolds one landing at a time.

Moving through the stairwell turns viewing into a sequence. The mural first appears as a large field of colour, then breaks into figures, expressions, and textures at closer range before returning to a complete composition from the next viewpoint.

That changing encounter gives an overlooked area a purpose within the wider customer journey. The stairwell no longer reads as space between destinations; it becomes a recognisable part of Egghead itself.

Movement reveals how the work changes across the height and turns of the staircase.

    The Outcome

A modest surface now carries a distinct sense of place.

Ayẹyẹ gives Egghead a warm, culturally specific interior landmark without compromising the clarity of the commercial space. The intervention demonstrates how targeted art direction can make even a transitional zone memorable.

Ayẹyẹ turns everyday circulation into an experience of colour, identity, and celebration—proof that the impact of an artwork is not determined only by the size of the project around it.
