Nigeria Speaks
Ancestral presences communicating across time. A gold-and-green chronicle of how Nigeria has always known itself — luminous, complex, sovereign.
"Nigeria is speaking, and my work is the medium through which it speaks."
— Artist Statement
How the work operates
The figures you see are not imagined characters. They are echoes — ancestral presences communicating across time through artificial intelligence. The gold and green palette is deliberate and consistent across the collection; these are the colours through which Nigeria sees itself. Not as the world has defined it, but as it has always known itself to be — luminous, complex, sovereign.
Each work is decoded using the probability principles of Ifá — an ancient system of pattern recognition and divination that has guided Yoruba thought for millennia. I apply these principles not as ritual but as a lens: identifying patterns within the image, drawing parallels to current events, and allowing meaning to surface progressively. Some works reveal themselves immediately. Others require time — both for the artist and the viewer.
The Warriors Collection rests on a single truth: navigating the modern world requires the same resilience as the battlefields of old. The figures here are warrior-ancestors of those currently in the arena — people who walk into rooms expecting to be seen, who refuse to blend into generic spaces, and who need to know their lineage stands behind them.
When a space holds a piece like this, it stops being just a room. It becomes an environment that recognizes the people within it — echoing their story, honoring their identity, and creating an unspoken welcome that transforms a fleeting visit into a lasting connection.
Some of these works have not yet been named. Their full identity — whose ancestor they carry, whose lineage they speak to — is still revealing itself. That is not ambiguity. That is how the work operates. In some cases, the work knows who it belongs to before the buyer does.
